The Mini Crossword trades a large grid from the classic crossword puzzle for a smaller, faster challenge, but the idea stays the same: solve the clues and fill the white squares with letters that link together Across and Down.
One of the best parts is how clear it is when you’ve solved it correctly. The moment everything is in place, a little burst of music plays, a congratulatory note appears, and a blue star pops up on your screen. If you’ve filled in every square but don’t hear anything, it means at least one letter is off and needs a second look.
For computer players, a set of shortcuts makes things easier. Arrow keys move you around the board, the spacebar switches directions or clears a square, and backspace erases mistakes. Tab and Shift + Tab skip between clues, while Escape enters Rebus mode for those trickier spots.
There’s also the option to switch between pen mode and pencil mode. Black letters mark confident answers, gray letters work well for guesses, and any checked square will turn blue.
To add a little more excitement, a timer sits above the puzzle to track your solving speed. You can pause it, resume it, or hide it completely if you’d rather solve without pressure.
